Marbelenio Bong Delfin who is currently based in Spain is joining several international artists in an art exhibition series that will start in Madrid. The next part of the series will be held in different parts of the world including Europe, Asia and USA.
The Madrid Art Expo: “Marbella to Madrid” is an art exhibition organized by Excellence Art Gallery, an art promotion venue based in Marbella, Spain owned by artist Massimo Cedrini and Art Director/Curator Guiseppe Carnevale.
The ongoing Madrid Art Expo is a collective of 29 international artists from 9 countries. Bong, representing Philippines, is joined by artists from Spain, Italy, France, Finland, Denmark, Argentina, Germany and Switzerland.
The first exhibit is ongoing in Madrid (April 6-18) and the next will be in Barcelona, Spain (June), Toulouse, France (September), Miami and Asia (2019).
Bong was awarded as Artist of the Year Award in the International Art Festival in Denmark in 2013. He popularized the style he termed as “Hydrodeepism”. The style, according to Bong, is simply an expression of personal ideologies done through “hydro dipping”, a traditional technique of printmaking which is commonly called “marbling”, “swirling” or “water transfer”.
Hydrodeepism is Bong’s means of portrayal of the daily battles he encounters. It is how he forms in layers the images of what he sees and his interpretation of the society and his generation.
Bong said he is also brewing something for the arts scene in his home region in Sox (SOCCSKSARGEN) and in Cebu soon.
